Everything is almost the same as seen before, everything happening now has happened previously

Etymology:

  • The idiom originates from the Bible. The earth is under the sun all the time. Major discoveries in the world are not announced every day as they are rare. But due to technology it is possible to learn new things all the time. This expression is used when a thing appears to be new at first glance but truth is that it is a mere variation in something already known. The example is the advertisements which present the product to express that the product is absolutely better and new than the previous products. But when taken a closer look, in most of the cases the products are “nothing new under the sun.”
