Etymology:

  • Tea has been a popular drink in Britain since 18th century. The idiom originates from England in around 19th with people using the phrase “cup of tea” for anything that seems to them interesting or liked. Tea has become a part of many English people. They often take tea once or twice a day with different flavors available now. Somewhere around 1920s, the expression modified with time to transform into the present one.
