Etymology:

  • It is observable if you rub green parts or leaves of a plant with your hands or fingers, your hand will turn green because it will get chlorophyll which is   a green pigment in plants. If are person who is good at gardening or he has unique ability to give fertility to land as he can grow plants , so you can use this expression for him saying that this person has “green thumb”.
