Lock, Stock, and Barrel

Etymology:

• The phrase generally refers to main parts of the gun: the lock with firing phenomena, the stock which is the handle and there is a barrel which is a tube through which bullet is fired. In 19thcentury, the phrase began to involve or mean whole thing, whole work, or covering all aspects of something. The phrase might have originated from old general store or goods store, which has a lock on the door, the stock means items or goods and barrel is the counter or a thing on which you decide or do bargaining.
