Poor side of the town, the side of town that is dangerous

  • In the 19th century, the train tracks were present that separated the towns into rich and poor portions. The neighborhoods were built on that side of town where the smoke of the trains didn’t reach. Thus, the expression “wrong side of the tracks” was used to refer to the side of the town that lacked in facilities and economically unstable.
