From the very start of something, inception or onset of something

  • The word “go” in the expression has its connection with a very popular and common call, “Ready, set, Go” which is mostly used at the start of any competition or race. It is noticing that the expression “ from the word go” was much used in  America in the middle of 18th century which was meant from the start of something , from  the onset of something.

It had to happen because I knew from the word go that this new man will ruin the business one day and we will be left with nothing in our hands.
