  • The origins of this idiom date back to hundreds of years ago. This idiom was used by Chinese and Europeans. People of certain area and colonies used to take big bites of food. Food used to drop down or got wasted and that is when elders and sensible ones suggested taking calculated bites that one could easily chew.

You cannot direct and produce the play so don’t try to bite off more than you can chew.
