A phrase is a component of English language that makes up most of the sentences. A phrase is a group of words that appear together in a sentence.

The literal definition of a phrase is that it is a group of words that contains within itself an idea or concept. A phrase is not a complete sentence and lacks the properties of a complete sentence for example it may be missing subject or verb.

A phrase can be long or short.

Enjoying the trip since yesterday

The above phrases are not complete sentences and lacking either subject or verb.
